Richard A. Sipos is a partner of Huddleston & Sipos Law Group LLP. With more than 26 years of experience, his practice emphasizes real estate law, commercial and complex litigation, construction law and employment law. Richard's general real estate work includes purchase and sale transactions, tax deferred exchanges, leasing (retail, warehouse and office), financing, environmental compliance and clean-up, and formation of limited liability companies. His real estate litigation experience includes breach of lease, boundary disputes, non-disclosure cases, ADA accessibility, specific performance, unlawful detainer, CEQA and easement cases.

Richard represents clients in all phases of construction from contract drafting through project completion. He has handled claims and dispute resolution involving hotels, prisons, hospitals, universities, apartment buildings, warehouses and office buildings.

Richard has handled numerous complex business litigation matters. Representative cases include securities fraud, business dissolutions, manufacturing and performance disputes, franchise disputes, covenants not to compete, agricultural and crop loss cases and representation of wineries in litigation.

Richard has extensive training as a mediator and is a member of the U.S. District Court Northern District of California Mediation Panel.

Summary of Trial Experience

Mr. Sipos has tried numerous jury and court trials as well as arbitrations.

Court trial and arbitrations in the construction industry have included the Pelican Bay State Prison, the Waterfront Hilton Hotel in Huntington Beach, the Glendale Red Lion Hotel, and the Laurel Theatre Apartment Complex in San Mateo.

Represented a family in a jury trial for extensive property damage to their home stemming from a landslide. Obtained a jury verdict for all of the client's damages and prejudgment interest.

Real estate trials have included a successful jury trial against Fidelity Title for failing to identify a strip of land along one side of client's corner commercial property owned by another party. Successfully sued in a court trial a tenant and guarantor under a commercial retail lease, recovering lost rent, interest and attorneys' fees.

Other trials and arbitrations have included a wrongful termination jury trial, legal malpractice actions resulting from subdivision map act violations, and arising from a medical malpractice action; fee dispute trials, a probate dispute and a large securities fraud jury trial.
